HIV Rapid Testing

When: Every 4th Friday of the month | 3:00 - 7:00 PM
Where: Oakland Neighborhood Center
Who: Ages 13+
Cost: No Cost

The Florida Department of Health offers free rapid HIV/AIDs testing and screening for sexually transmitted diseases. The health department will use a rapid test that uses a small blood sample from a finger prick and provides results in 15 minutes. All tests are free and results are confidential.

Royal Heat

When: Monday, Wednesday, Friday | 6:00 - 8:00 PM
Where: Oakland Neighborhood Center
Who: Ages 6-17
Cost: Free

Royal Heat participants will be learning Hip-Hop dance, life skills, building self-esteem, and will receive assistance tp stay focused and on the right path, preparing them for their future.

Risk Club Independent Life Skills

When: Wednesday | 5:00 - 7:00 PM
Where: Oakland Neighborhood Center
Who: Ages 11-18
Cost: Free

Risk Club Independent Living will teach participants job skills, life skills, and budgeting skills. They will also have the ability to attend college tours, business tours, and trip.


Diamond in the Rough   *NOT CURRENTLY MEETING*

When:  5:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Diamond in the Rough is a non-profit women’s empowerment organization that holds sessions and workshops on life skills, parenting, and time management. The founder and facilitator of this program is Tawanta Stanley. Diamond in the Rough provides overall encouragement and fellowship for women from various backgrounds.

Polk Youth Leadership Team   *NOT CURRENTLY MEETING* 

When: Every 3rd Thursday of the month | 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM
Where: Oakland Neighborhood Center
Who: Ages 10 - 19
Cost: No Cost

The Youth Leadership Team meets monthly. They will participate in community service projects, teen discussions, and awareness activities. Community service hours are available and refreshments will be served.

How to Use Computers   *NOT CURRENTLY MEETING* 

When: Wednesdays  | 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Where: Oakland Neighborhood Center
Who: Open to all ages
Cost: No Cost

How to use Computers is a free of charge basic computer class. This class is for beginners or those that may want to become more familiar with operating a computer. There are other opportunities to take this class at the Haines City Public Library and it is also offered in Spanish. (Please contact library for dates and times as they vary). This class is facilitated by Elizabeth Ramos.
